In reply to Lancelot. With Amex's refer a friend, I can refer someone to get 10,000 points and I'll get 15,000. I plan to do that for SO this fall.

In reply to Lancelot. Yep, I’ll second this advice. Start with Chase cards because of their 5/24 rule. Don’t want to be locked out from a great card for as many as 24 months, the suspense would be unbearable for me!

In reply to Mo2. I agree w/both choices. The Amex Blue Business doesn’t get much press because of the lack of a welcome bonus, but it’s a no brainer to keep once it’s in your wallet. No annual fee and 2X everywhere is strong. I wish I had the Freedom Unlimited, but I’m capped out on 5/24. For anyone just getting into the hobby, start w/Chase cards.

I can’t help but wonder: Are merchants increasing their prices because of credit card processing fees? Are the rewards we are getting just a refund of that extra expense?

I prefer the Amex Blue Business Plus as the Best No Annual Fee Credit Card for Everyday Purchases as it offers 2 MR points per $ on 1st 50k annual spending. After 50k I’d go with the Chase Freedom Unlimited 1.5 UR per $
