In addition to the Marriott Bonvoy Bold card’s 30,000-point bonus, which you can earn after meeting the minimum spending requirements, the card also earns Marriott points at the following rates:
- 3 Marriott points per dollar spent at participating Marriott hotels
- 2 Marriott points per dollar spent on travel purchases
- 1 Marriott point per dollar spent on all other purchases
The card also has a handful of useful benefits for a no-annual-fee card.
1. Automatic Marriott Silver Elite status
With the Marriott Bonvoy Bold, you’ll receive automatic Silver Marriott Elite status. That’s the lowest status tier, and normally requires 10 nights per calendar year. It comes with perks like:
- 10% points bonus on paid stays
- Priority late checkout (based on availability)
- Free Wi-Fi when you book your stay directly with Marriott
2. 15 Elite night credits per calendar year
Marriott Silver Elite status doesn’t come with a ton of useful perks, but the Marriott Bonvoy Bold gets you closer to earning Gold or Platinum status because you’ll get 15 Elite night credits every year just for having the card.
Normally, you need 25 Elite night credits to earn Gold status and 50 Elite night credits to earn Platinum. So with the 15 bonus nights, you only need 10 or 35 additional Elite nights respectively.
This is useful if you’re close to the next tier because you can unlock more valuable perks, like late check out, upgrades and free breakfast (with Platinum status).
3. Trip delay reimbursement
If your flight (or other common carrier, like cruise, train, etc.) is delayed by 12+ hours or requires an overnight stay, you and your family are covered for the extra costs you incur. You can be reimbursed up to $500 per ticket for expenses like meals, toiletries, transportation and hotels.
4. Lost luggage reimbursement
When you pay for your travel with your Marriott Bonvoy Bold card, you and your family are covered up to $3,000 per passenger if the carrier damages or loses your luggage.
5. Purchase protection
Eligible purchases made with your Marriott Bonvoy Bold card are covered for 120 days for damage or theft. You can be reimbursed up to $500 per claim and $50,000 per account.
6. Baggage delay insurance
When you use your Marriott Bonvoy Bold card to pay for a trip and your baggage is delayed for 6+ hours, you can be reimbursed up to $100 per day for five days. The coverage applies to essentials, like clothing and toiletries.
7. No foreign transaction fees
Lots of cards add a 3% fee to purchases made outside of the US, but you won’t have to worry about these silly fees when you’re using your Marriott Bonvoy Bold on your next overseas trip.
8. Visa concierge
If you need help securing tickets to events, getting dinner reservations or help with other tasks like finding and sending a gift, your Marriott Bonvoy Bold card comes with complimentary Visa Signature® Concierge Service 24 hours a day.
Bottom Line
